The average Indian hotel sends its linen to a local dhobi — a neighbourhood laundry service that washes at 40–50°C with chlorine bleach. That is enough to remove visible stains. It is not enough to eliminate MRSA, dermatophytes, or dust-mite allergens — the pathogens that actually affect guest health and generate negative reviews.
At the same time, the hotel owns the linen — which means it buys stock, replaces it when it degrades or goes missing, stores it, audits it, and argues with staff about it. On a 50-bed property, this is typically 4–8 hours of management time per month and ₹1.5–₹3L of invisible annual cost.
